Tobis Investments was founded by Sam Tobis in Toronto in the early 1950’s. His passion for real estate, and his attention to detail, helped him grow his boardwalk ice cream cart business into rental houses on more than 15 streets in the Beach neighbourhood of Toronto. Mr. Tobis expanded the business again in the 1970’s by acquiring his first apartment buildings. Together with his wife Grace, they further expanded their holdings throughout the Greater Toronto Area. Sam and Grace were both proud to own their own properties as well partner with associates in many joint venture properties. Many of those partnerships are still in place today.
A Family Legacy Continues
Today Tobis Investments is proudly led by Ronald King and his Daughter Irene King-Phypers.
Under their leadership Tobis Investments has strengthened its residential rental portfolio holdings in Toronto, and expanded into Barrie, and Collingwood.
In 2016 the company made its first commercial acquisition and in 2017 joined the vacation rental market.
Maintaining our core values while modernizing our methods and our properties has opened up new opportunities, the company is positioned to grow steadily over the next five years.
Ronald King - CEO
Raised in Toronto by entrepreneurial parents, Ronald learned early in life to be creative and innovative.
Mr. King worked in many industries throughout his career including over 40 years in the customer service industry.
Since joining Tobis Investments in 1993 first part time as a property manager and later full time as a Vice President and later President and CEO, Mr. King has seen the progression of Tobis Investments from a small family business to a successful family enterprise.
Many Tobis house renovations and projects have been overseen by Mr. King personally as he enjoys being involved in the day to day operations of the business. A proud member of the Rotary Club of East York, Mr. King instills in each of his team members the importance of giving back to the community and the importance of working together to reach common goals.
When he’s not at his desk in the office, you’ll find Ronald is enjoying time with his family and traveling.
Irene King Phypers - President
Raised in Toronto with an appreciation for the history of this beautiful city, Irene watched her parents and grandparents buy and sell properties very closely, always asking questions and learning. She completed her schooling in event management and worked in hospitality maintenance before joining Tobis Investments full time in 2010.
Residential properties have always been the core of the Tobis Investments portfolio, but Ms. King-Phypers saw the potential not only in strengthening their joint venture partnerships but also expanding into the commercial and vacation property markets.
Community involvement is extremely important to the entire Tobis Investments family, you'll often find Irene volunteering her time with Pine Ridge Railroaders as well as Soaring Spirits Canada where she is a regional group leader. When she's not volunteering or at the office you'll find Irene up north skiing or spending time with family.
